follow forever (artist edition)

lolki:

I was asked to recommend some artist tumblrs by an anon a while back and I kept putting it off because I follow over 900 blogs, making it really difficult to pick, until I realized it would be better to just list all the artists I follow SO YEAH.

Turned out huge as balls though, fair warning.

Emergency Commissions

blamethetemplar:

For the last—almost a year, I’ve been under some hard times. Until recently, I’ve been able to scrape by with what little I had in my savings. That has since dwindled to nothing, and with no job in sight, I find myself in a position where any source of income is better than none. That said, I’ve decided to offer one of my few skills to the masses: writing. I know it doesn’t seem to be as popular within the art community to do this with so many excellent visual artists, but I have to try. Otherwise, I’ll be cut off from everything – including medications necessary to keep me a productive member of society.

Enough of my personal rambling. Now, for the product. Currently, I’m offering works of original fiction tailored to your desires. Fanworks will not be possible as that is toeing a legal line I’m unwilling to cross. However, if you have an OC originated in fandom that you would like to see written, I’ll be happy to work with those. I have no restrictions on what a person may commission, so those of you who have a desire for smut won’t be turned away.

Keep in mind, however, that I reserve the right to decline a commission on personal grounds. If I’m uncomfortable writing it, you will receive a lesser product, and I’m not okay with that.

With all of that said, here’s the good stuff.

Samples

Pricing and Delivery

I will be charging $1 for every 100 words written due at the time of commission. The amount of time it takes will depend on work volume and word length, so please ask me when we’re discussing the details. Any commissions where smut is included will have an additional 50 cents attached to the price. So, 100 words of smut will be a $1.50, 200 words will be $3.00, etc.

Anything 4,000 words or higher have a different pricing that will be negotiated at the time of commission.

Commissioners receiving products under 500 words will be allowed one opportunity to see their commission before it’s completed. This is your time to let me know of any changes that need to be made. Anything over 500 words will have two or more approval sessions depending on the length and amount of specific detail.

Finished products will be delivered to you via e-mail attachment in .doc or .pdf format depending upon your desire.

  • Any other details such as setting, plot, and personal touches.

DO YOU THINK A “UNIQUE” OR INDIVIDUALISTIC DRAWING STYLE IS IMPORTANT? Can be in general or just for you.

I am curious. Bonus if you mention copying (or “copying”) styles.

Thank you if you take part???

edit: “important” meaning it’s something you think about/strive for, you’re bothered when you…

to an extent!

hummm i think a unique style comes built in with everyone. people convey information differently and that translates into every line they make on paper. that’s why i think there’s nothing wrong with studying other people’s work and noting the way they do certain things that you might have trouble with or appeal to you because no matter what you do, it’ll always look different under your hand? unless you’re really striving to copy-copy someone’s work which ahh..nono…don’t do that… that’s bad… it’s only really acceptable if there’s a technique (the way they use color, how they play with space, how they utilize lines, etc—fun things to think about!)  an artist is using that you’d like to experiment with, and if it works well with you, maybe it’s something you can develop further??

IDK art is basically problem solving, sometimes looking at other people’s work and drawing information from it and applying it to your own stuff helps! sometimes it doesn’t! it’s all a huge patchwork of influence and inspiration and your own thought process when it comes down to it. everyone is different and they’re exposed to different mediums and media and experiences as they grow and that is something that shines through everyone’s work! as long as you’re passionate and work constantly to make yourself more knowledgeable, your style just grows and flourishes with you.
